Rochester Rolls Into Hamilton!
Thursday, June 30th, 2011Fresh off their first win of the 2011 season, the Hammer City Roller Girls (HCRG)’s Hammer City Harlots are hungry for a second helping of victory. On Saturday, July 9th, the hard-skating Harlots will host Rochester’s Roc City Roller Derby B-Sides at the Dave Andreychuk (Mountain) Arena in Hamilton. Doors open at 6:00pm and the first whistle blows at 7:00pm.
The newly-realigned Harlots are hitting their stride as HCRG’s regional team, having just represented the league at the Canadian Women’s Roller Derby Association (CWRDA) East tournament in Ottawa, ON in June. They battled their way to a fourth-place finish following a convincing win over Brantford’s Belle City Roller Girls and falling to eventual champions Forest City of London in the semi-finals.
If the Harlots’ determined play at CWRDA East and Roc City’s impressive 2010 season record are any indication, Hamilton is in for a sizzling flat track showdown. Two years ago, Roc City defeated Hammer City’s Death Row Dames, so the Harlots will be looking to dish out a heaping of revenge to the B-Sides.
