Hammer City Roller Girls

Hammer City Roller Girls are recruiting! We are looking for fun, spirited, team-oriented individuals to join the league as skaters or referees! If you’re derby curious, why wait? Join us at our upcoming recruitment night. Meet HCRG skaters and refs, and learn more about joining our league and enrolling in the next 8 week Derby 101 course.

Whether you are interested in joining the sport for fitness, recreation, or to be a hard-hitting competitor or referee, our derby girls will teach you the basics in Derby 101. This 8-week on skates training is open to beginners who want to learn the game of flat track roller derby.

The Hammer City Roller Girls are excited to announce our Hamilton bout dates for our 2011 home season. You don’t want to miss any hits or whips, so mark your calendars now!

All bouts will take place at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena, 25 Hester Street in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Hamilton arenas are iced in for fall and winter, so our skaters practice out of town until the ice comes out of the city rinks in April, or until we can secure our own venue. A local reporter visited us at a recent practice at the old arena in Caledonia:

Tara Pledge is a former Caledonia resident who lives in Burlington but still has lots of friends who live in town as well as her Dad and doctor. She’s been back in town over the last two winters to exercise her alter ego. Tara is the co captain of the Hamilton Harlots one of two roller derby teams that practice at the Old Arena every week throughout winter. By day she works as a manager at an ad agency but on Wednesday night and Sunday afternoon she is Scooby Doom.
